Supported Lifestyles Ltd. is a not for profit agency that provides services to adults with developmental disabilities. At Supported Lifestyles Ltd. there are a number of service areas that provide specialized services to our clients. Supported Lifestyles Ltd. Community Supports enables people to access and integrate themselves in their communities in meaningful ways through employment and engagement opportunities. We do this by helping people identify areas of strength and interests, often building upon an existing skill base, identifying the unique contributions each person has to make to the community. Supported Lifestyles Ltd. Community Supports believes that all people have the right to engage in and contribute to their communities through meaningful activities, including gainful employment.
Responsibilities
Community Supports Workers will provide direct, front-line support to clients in the community. We support clients in all four quadrants of the city (NE, NW, SE, and SW) and typical hours in Community Supports are Monday-Friday 9am-3pm. Supported Lifestyles Ltd. Community Supports empowers people who experience barriers to work in securing a job. We do this by helping people build on their existing skill base, identifying the unique contributions the job seekers have to make to the business world. Community Supports Workers may also engage in community activities with the clients. Depending on the individual interests of the individuals, this may include activities such as visiting fitness and recreation facilities, attending sing-alongs, visiting Public Libraries, etc.
Qualifications/Requirements
- Experience working with developmental disabilities and/or mental health challenges
- Experience providing behavioural supports to clients
- Experience providing personal care (e.g. assisting with bathing or toileting and personal hygiene)
- Post-secondary education in a related field preferred (e.g. Human Services, Social Work, Psychology, etc.)
- Access to a personal vehicle an asset
- Willingness to drive long distances throughout Calgary
Compensation
The wage for this position is based on education and experience and ranges from $16.84-18.29/hour.
